Frequently Asked Questions

We’ve pulled together some questions that your customers may ask about electric vehicles.

Are electric cars more expensive than petrol or diesel cars?

While electric cars might have a higher initial purchase price, their lower running and maintenance costs can make them more economical in the long run. That being said, as more manufacturers enter the electric market, they’re becoming more affordable – as of June 2025, there are 12 new electric vehicles listed under £30,000.

Are there enough charging points in the UK?

As of the end of May 2025, there are over 80,000 charging points across the UK, and a new charge point is installed every 29 minutes. The Government is investing over £2.3 billion to ensure the number of charge points continues to grow.

How long does it take to charge an electric vehicle?

Charging time depends on the type of charger. Home chargers are typically slower, with most people charging their car fully overnight – similar to charging a phone overnight. Rapid chargers at public locations can charge a car from 10%-80% in 20-30 minutes.

How many models can I choose from?

As more manufacturers enter the market, the number of electric vehicle available is increasing month on month. There are currently 135 electric, 100 plug-in hybrid and 50 hybrid models in the UK market for you to choose from.

How long is the range on these vehicles?

Typically an average electric vehicle has a range of 200-230 miles, and an average plug-in hybrid has an electric only range for 35-50 miles, or a total range of 350 – 450 miles.
